  2. r1cfDESCRIPTION:r0  c7User Configurations for CNet and FTP

  4.  The Configurations menu allows you to taylor the INetShell to your 
  5. needs.  It has options to prevent users from interrupting your time
  6. within the shell (by On-Line Messages (ie. OLMs) or System Messages 
  7. such as the User-Monitor messages).  It also allows you to configure
  8. the FTP client (known as NcFTP - pronounced Nik-F-T-P) to your needs.
  9. And finally, it allows you to edit your Finger file.  This file will be
  10. explained below.

  12.  Commands listed on the Configuration menu are:
  13.  
  14.  c5H  c1(toggle hide mode - hide from all ports)
  15.        ccAllows you to toggle C-Net's HIDE command which allows you
  16.        to hide from all ports (no one will be able to see you on the
  17.        WHO display).  Setting this to On will have the following 
  18.        effect:  When you enter the INetShell, it will auto-hide from
  19.        all ports and INetShell will auto-unhide you when you exit.

  21.  c5M  c1(toggle muffle mode - muffle all ports)
  22.        ccAllows you to toggle C-Net's MUffle command which prevents
  23.        you from receiving any On-Line Messages (OLM) from any port.
  24.        This is usually a good thing to do as OLMs can really mess
  25.        up the prompting in some areas of the program.  Setting this
  26.        option to On will force INetShell to automatically muffle all
  27.        ports when you enter the program and then unmuffle when you exit.

  29.  c5T  c1(toggle user-monitor mode)
  30.        ccThis option will allow you to toggle C-Net's User-Monitor
  31.        command (known as UM).  Some users automatically do a "UM;*" 
  32.        at login which will tell C-Net to send them System Messages 
  33.        whenever a user logs on or off.  If you do not have this set 
  34.        on your account, then leave this option to "No".  If you have
  35.        it turned on (UM;*), it is suggested that you toggle this option
  36.        to "Yes".  Setting this option to "Yes" will make INetShell
  37.        toggle the User-Monitor to OFF while you are in the program and
  38.        toggle it back to ON when you exit the program.

  40.  c5D  c1(disable MOTD file at startup)
  41.        ccThis option will allow you to disable the MOTD (message of the day)
  42.        file from displaying at the startup of the INetShell.  It has only
  43.        2 options.  Yes and No.

  45.  c5E  c1(edit your finger file)
  46.        ccAllows you to edit your finger file.  A finger file is a sort
  47.        of User-Information file that anyone on the Internet can pull up.
  48.        If you are familiar with C-Net's "UI" command, this is quite 
  49.        similar.  Here, you have the opportunity to write a little about
  50.        yourself so that users who FINGER your account will see what you
  51.        have to tell them.  This option brings you directly into C-Net's
  52.        Editor mode (visual or line editor) and allows you to customize
  53.        your Finger.

  55.  c5F  c1(edit your ftp .netrc configuration)
  56.        ccThis option brings you to a sub-menu which allows you to 
  57.        customize the NcFTP client to your wishes.  Here are the
  58.        available options in this menu:

  60.           c51  c1Download Progress Meter
  61.                 ccThis allows you to toggle the FTP download progress
  62.                 meter 4 ways.  
  63.                                 NONE: no progress display
  64.                         DOT-NOTATION: dots (.) are displayed during transfer
  65.                            BAR-GRAPH: a bar graph shows transfer progress
  66.                           K-RECEIVED: number of kilobytes shown

  68.           c52  c1Ansi-Escapes
  69.                 ccThis option allows you to toggle Ansi-Escapes in
  70.                 the NcFTP client.  (default=On)

  72.           c53  c1Auto-Binary Mode
  73.                 ccThis allows you to automatically set the transfer
  74.                 mode to BINARY (type I) in the NcFTP client.  It is
  75.                 suggested to leave it to it's default.  (default=On)

  77.           c54  c1Verbose Mode
  78.                 ccThis setting has 3 settings:

  80.                          TERSE:  minimal messages 
  81.                SYSTEM-MESSAGES:  only display FTP system messages
  82.                   ALL-MESSAGES:  displays all messages  (default)

  84.           c55  c1Auto-Anonymous Logins
  85.                 ccThis option will automatically log you on to the
  86.                 FTP site as the user "anonymous".  Most FTP sites
  87.                 allow this user login and it is suggested to leave
  88.                 this setting to "Yes" which is the default.

  90.           c56  c1Recently Called List
  91.                 ccThis allows you to view the recently called list
  92.                 by using the OPEN command at the NcFTP> prompt.  For
  93.                 more information on the OPEN command, type HELP OPEN
  94.                 when you are at the NcFTP> prompt (during an FTP run).

  97.           c57  c1Display NcFTP Tips
  98.                 ccNcFTP has the ability to display "TIPS" to you when
  99.                 you first enter client.  Tips are short-cuts on how
  100.                 to use NcFTP.  (default=Yes)

  103.                 ccThis command will save your preferences file and
  104.                 return you to the main Configuration menu.
